Golden Angel, Bred by Ralph S. Moore; Visalia, California.
While other yellow miniatures such as 'Rise 'N' Shine' are more popular in commerce, there is no doubt that 'Golden Angel' is still well worth growing. If for no other reason we owe it some gratitude for having parented many other fine roses, including 'Earthquake', 'Muriel Humenick', 'Apricot Twist', 'Sharon's Delight' and the famous 'Topaz Jewel'. It is also the parent of one of the un-named Ralph Moore roses I grow. Always in bloom, with 1.5 to 2 inch golden yellow blooms produced in clusters, this is a pleasure to grow. I am especially fond of 'Golden Angel' for the bloom form, which is often very full and Old Garden Rose-like in shape. Look closely at the photograph and you can see what I mean. The fully open blossom can be very much like a small yellow 'Souvenir de la Malmaison'! It may be worthy of mention that this miniature is a very good seed producer, for those interested in hybridizing. It is well known for being a producer of good yellow offspring with excellent growth habit and ease of culture.
