This tiny rose is a constant favorite with miniature growers. The color is rich, often varying between purple and crimson and a brighter red. The blooms are quite small.....about 3/4 inch across, and made up of about 8 or 10 petals, opening flat when mature. The plant is also very small, rarely acheiving a height of more than 8 inches tall. The foliage is a nice deep green, and plentiful. In my experience it is also quite disease free, although these early miniatures are known to be suceptible to blackspot. This is not just an historically noteworthy rose, but still of aesthetic merit in anyone's collection. ARS

Tom
Thumb is one of the few miniatures bred in the early part of the 20th
century. It has also played a major role in the breeding of many of
the miniatures that have followed.
