Oriental Simplex , Bred by Ernest Williams, 1987.
The brilliant brownish Chinese red single blooms are really very spectacular, even if they are not much more than an inch across! It blooms in didtinct cycles, taking short pauses between flushes. It tends to have all its blooms open at once, and blooms are usually one to a stem. There is no detectable fragrance. My plant has shown to be very good for disease resistance, warding off both mildew and blackspot, and appears to be quite winter hardy. If you like the single roses, this is one you should consider.
