Oriental Simplex , Bred by Ernest Williams, 1987.

Oriental SimplexThis sweet miniature is almost a microminiature. It is from a cross of (Starburst X Over The Rainbow) X Little Chief. My plant has yet to grow any taller than 8", and it looks like it will not get to be much more than a foot tall. This would be an excellent mini for a permanent containder planting because of its small size.

The brilliant brownish Chinese red single blooms are really very spectacular, even if they are not much more than an inch across! It blooms in didtinct cycles, taking short pauses between flushes. It tends to have all its blooms open at once, and blooms are usually one to a stem. There is no detectable fragrance.

My plant has shown to be very good for disease resistance, warding off both mildew and blackspot, and appears to be quite winter hardy. If you like the single roses, this is one you should consider.

ARS merit rating: 7.7
