This yellow miniature is still considered to be the one by which all other yellow minis are measured. After 25 years, it is still widely grown, and still used for breeding. By my count, there are currently 139 registered hybrids which are direct descendants of this rose! Among its descendants are 'Party Girl', 'Rainbow's End', 'Loving Touch', 'Lover's Only', 'Figurine', 'Center Gold', 'Lavendar Jade', and 'Behold', to mention a few. 'Rise 'n' Shine' is a compact plant of about 18" height, and often a bit wider than it is tall. It blooms consistently, and prolifically throughout the season. It is often one of the first of my minis to bloom in the spring. (I have about a dozen plants that I use as seed plants for breeding) The foliage is medium green, semi-glossy, and has very good mildew resistance, but I have found it to be less satisfactory in fending off blackspot. My plants in the greenhouse rarely have any blackspot anyway, so I don't worry about it much. The medium yellow blooms are produced in clusters of 3 to 5 usually, but occasionally as single blooms on a stem. The form is more decorative than show form, but I am not a fan of show roses anyway. :-)
