This
rose resulted from a cross using Ralph Moore's "44 Stripe"
seedling, one that has played an important role in the breeding of many
of his striped and mossed seedlings. (This is, in fact, a sister seedling
to 'Rose Gilardi') As you can see, this seedling displays both the striping and the mossy buds that are often inherited from its seed parent. This plant has been a very good bloomer for me, repeating regularly in my greenhouse with large clusters of blooms which open sucessively over a long period. This gives the impression that the plant is in flower for a very long time. The individual blooms are about 2.5 to 3" wide, opening flatly after holding a pleasing bud form for several days. I actually prefer the open bloom for, so you can see the starburst effect of the striping. There is a distinct yellow cast to the white when it first opens, but this fades quickly to cream. I think it's a pleasant effect, actually. ARS
