SWALK
(Sealed With A Loving Kiss), Bred
by Sean McCann, 1999.
Three years ago Jerry Justice introduced me to a new red climbing Miniature
rose, and he was very excited about this new cultivar. At the time I
thought "another red mini....big deal", but I was wrong! WOW!
What a plant this is! Vigorous like no other climbing mini, reaching
a height of 8 feet if trained vertically. The blooms are a rich medium
red with glowing velvet highlights and every bloom is perfection. There
is usually a paler raspberry and white reverse on the blooms, which
you can get a hint of in the photo here. Often it is much more pronounced
than you see here. After having grown this for 2 years now, I can certainly
recommend it HIGHLY! I think for people who like to exhibit their roses,
this one has potential as well. It's certainly an excellent garden plant.
You can get S.W.A.L.K. from Justice Miniatures and The
Uncommon Rose.
