June Laver, bred by Keith Laver, Canada 1987. This is a beautiful little deep golden-yellow rose! The blooms are of the finest form, and a rich, deep golden yellow hue, with a hint of apricot. I have found that the blooms will occasionally offer a very nice fragrance when newly opened as well. 'June Laver' is well known as an exhibitors rose, as it makes a fine cut flower of the highest quality. The only drawback is that the blooms have short stems. As a garden shrub, this doesn't matter, but for exhibitors it makes it difficult to get long stems for cutting. I have heard that it will produce a longer stem if placed in a semi-shady location, making it reach a bit for light. I acquired 'June Laver' for use in my breeding work, and it is well known to be a good seed and pollen parent. ARS
