Apricot
Twist, Bred by Ralph Moore, California 1993.
This
is a recent inroduction by Ralph Moore of Visalia, and just as described
in his catalog, this is NOT just another miniature rose! A friend of
mine who sells Miniatures commercially grows the newer minis outdoors
in a bed that gets no irrigation, and is exposed to full sun, in order
to test them for their toughness. Apricot Twist has proven to be one
of the best of all the roses tested. It forms a tidy shrub of about
1.5 feet tall, compact and disease resistant in spite of the harsh conditions.
I would say this is going to be one of my favourites for the outdoor
garden. Not all of the newer minis posess very good disease resistance,
but this seems to be an exception.
As
you can see by the photo here, this is a wonderful color.....a mix of
warm yellow, apricot, and a sort of brownish buff at times. Its a very
attractive color that is easy to work into a garden color scheme. I
have often noticed a sweet scent on these blooms, but not always. Its
fragrance seems to vary according to climate conditions. This is an
attractive new rose, and I would place it high on my list of choice
varieties for folks who collect minis. Sure to be one of the best.
'Apricot
Twist' is available from The
