Singles Better, Bred by Harmon Saville, 1985.

'Singles Better'Breeding: includes 'Lemon Delight' in its parentage, from which it has inherited its mossy buds.

This is a very fine little mini moss rose. I'm not sure why it has not caught on, because it's a fine plant with strong growth, a very good habit, beautiful foliage and wonderfully mossy buds and glowingly bright blooms. Mine is still fairly new to me, so I can't comment extensively on its performance. So far, it has been one of my better miniatures for health, rebloom and a very attractive growth habit.

The heavily mossed, lemony scented buds are produced singly on heavily branched canes. Single blooms open flat, in a rich scarlet hue with bright yellow centers. The color deepens to plum red with age. In all, a very nice little rose!

ARS merit rating: 8.0
Personal merit rating: 8.0
Hardiness: Likely USDA zones 5 through 10
Shrub size: approximately 2 feet tall, and the same wide.

Fragrance: 1.5, because of its fragrant, lemony buds.
