'Ruby
Princess', Bred
by Ralph Moore, 2002. This is one of Sequoia Nursery's introductions for 2002. 'Ruby Princess' is the most recent in a line of new Microminiatures that Ralph Moore has been introducing for the past several years. Other Microminis that have been released by Sequoia Nursery include last years 'Baby Austin', 'Little Pinkie' from 2000, and 'Cinderella Gold' from 1995. This newest member of the Microminiature class has all the makings of a real winner, with a compact, well-branched growth habit and beautifully formed medium cherry red blooms. Each bloom is about 1 inch across and has 30 to 40 petals. Blossoms are produced in small clusters and singly on a low growing (10 inch) plant that is wider than it is tall. Foliage is a deep glossy green and is very heathy, clothing the plant fully. The shape of the plant is quite elegant, and is typical of the kind of progressive breeding coming out of Ralph Moore's breeding program. If you like the smallest of the Miniatures, be sure to give this one a try....you won't be disappointed. It's available from both The Uncommon Rose and Sequoia Nursery.
