Overnight Scentsation, bred by Harmon Saville, USA 1977.

Overnight ScentsationI will quote from Nor'East's catalog about this variety:
"
Overnight Scentsation™ is the most fragrant mini rose ever with large flowers of bright medium pink, laden with a strong rose scent...The first rose in space via John Glenn & Co. in 1998... one of the reasons it was sent along on the trip is its extraordinarily strong fragrance..."

Well....now that we have got that out of the way.......this is the only rose I have purchased this year that is going to either be given away, or thrown on the trash heap in the spring. In my experience, the plant is just a gangly floribunda with 3" blooms on a 3 foot tall plant. What's miniature about that?! I could find a place in my heart/garden for it if it weren't for the fact that it is also very disease prone.....it had blackspot, mildew and rust very badly all summer. No thanks. I'll pass on this one. Sorry.

Addendum 2001: yup.....I threw it out last year. For those of you who can grow it well, more power to you. For me, it was a dog. Arf.
