'Elegant Design', bred by Ralph Moore, California, 1994. Breeding: 'Little Darling' X 'Crested Jewel'. 'Elegant Design' is the first of a series of roses Ralph Moore is breeding with crested sepals, a feature inherited from R. centifolia cristata. Although you can't see the sepals in this photo, they do show some of the frilly cresting inheritaed from the pollen parent, 'Crested Jewel'. This is the first commercial release of Ralph's Crested Hybrids, and there are several more spectacular roses from this series yet to come. 'Elegant Design' is a typical Floribunda in habit, forming a 2.5 X 2.5 foot shrub in most circumstances, depending on culture and climate. It makes an excellent patio pot rose as well. It blooms continuously with its 3.5 inch peachy pink blooms of classic HT form. Blooms are produced singly and in cluster of 5 or more. Unfortunately there is only a slight fragrance. In every other way this is a fine rose with excellent rebloom and the finest of form. I understand it makes a great cut flower as well. 'Elegant Design' is also listed as one of the Crested Hybrids: ARS
