Lavender Pinocchio, bred by Eugene Boerner, 1948. Breeding: 'Pinocchio' X 'Grey Pearl'. 'Lavender Pinocchio' is one of the most unusual Floribundas I grow. In spite of the low ARS rating (to be taken with a grain of salt), it is a good small shrub with reasonable health, well formed blooms, odd but wonderful coloring and a haunting fragrance. 'Lavender Pinocchio' has been a very good breeder, and probably still has merit as a breeding plant. It's first generation progeny includes many well known roses such as 'Angel Face', 'Cafe', 'Magenta', and 'Lilac Charm'. As you can see, there are a number of its offspring that have inherited aspects of its unusual coloring. This wonderful Floribunda has been on the market since it was first introduced, a testimony to its merits. As I say, don't let the low ARS rating deter you; this is a fine rose for that small corner of the garden, or for a patio planter. 'Lavender Pinocchio' is available from The Uncommon Rose ARS
