Louise Clements,
bred by John Clements, USA. 1996.
Photographed at Heirloom Roses display gardens. John Clements created
this rose using 'Graham Thomas'
the now famous English rose, which has parented a large number of the
English Roses. 'Louise Clements' is a rose very much in that style,
with more controlled growth than its seed parent, remaining between
3 and 4 feet tall.
The
shrub itself is well foliated, and appears to be quite free of disease
problems. Blooms are large and cupped, like 'Graham
Thomas', but fuller, and a luminous copper hue. There is also a
strong, fruity fragrance that is very pleasing. I think this is a very
nice addtion to the English style of modern shrub, and hope it makes
its way into many gardens.
