Louise Clements, bred by John Clements, USA. 1996.

'Louise Clements'
Photographed at Heirloom Roses display gardens. John Clements created this rose using 'Graham Thomas' the now famous English rose, which has parented a large number of the English Roses. 'Louise Clements' is a rose very much in that style, with more controlled growth than its seed parent, remaining between 3 and 4 feet tall.

The shrub itself is well foliated, and appears to be quite free of disease problems. Blooms are large and cupped, like 'Graham Thomas', but fuller, and a luminous copper hue. There is also a strong, fruity fragrance that is very pleasing. I think this is a very nice addtion to the English style of modern shrub, and hope it makes its way into many gardens.

ARS merit rating: none yet given
Personal merit rating: undecided.
Hardiness: Likely USDA zones 6 to 10, zone 5 in a protected location.
Shrub size: 3 to 5 feet tall, depending on climate.

Fragrance: 4.0 strong fragrance.
