Oshun, bred by Paul Barden, introduced 2004.
Oshun

This is one of two seedlings grown from open pollinated seeds from the English Rose, 'Abraham Darby'. I consider this to be the nicer of the two, (see seedling #1) as it has richer color and better vigor. Blooms are borne in clusters of 3 to 5, each bloom about 4" across. The blooms are shallower cups than its parent, and they hold their color much better in hot weather than 'Abraham Darby', which tends to get very washed out, turning a greyish-peach color that I find unattractive. 'Oshun' doesn't fade like that, always remaining a clear peach hue, although paler as it ages.

The fragrance is a strong, rich scent that has tones of Citrus, especially on a fully open bloom. This rose is much more compacy and bushy than its parent and is self-supporting, which I feel is a definite advantage. In climates like Southern California, however, it is possible this may get considerably larger. Disease resistance has been very good for me and I would say that it is improved over its parent.

Introduced by The Uncommon Rose, 2004
