"Redgold",
bred by Paul Barden, 2002.

Breeding: [('Little Darling'
X 'Lemon Delight') X 'Angel
Face'] X 'Scarlet Moss'.
This
seedling came closest to hitting the mark I was aiming for when I made
this cross in 2001. The seed parent is an un-named seedling I have been
working with for the past three years in an attempt to breed some new
Moss Shrubs. While this seedling is only lightly mossed, it does have
very nice form and bright clear color. As you can see from the photo,
there is an amber yellow reverse to the vermillion-red petals. The second
photo shows some of the mossing on the backs of the sepals.
Since
this is a first year seedling, I cannot comment on the mature plant
size yet, nor is this by any means a proper evaluation of its merits.
I will update these notes as I have more time to evaluate this rose.
ARS
merit rating: NA
Personal merit rating: undecided
Hardiness: Likely USDA zones
6 to 9, zone 5 in a protected location.
Shrub size: to be determined.
Fragrance: 2.5, little fragrance.
