Un-named
seedling, by Ralph Moore, bred in 1982.
Breeding: 'Little Darling'
X ('Baccara' X 'Crested
Jewel') this is a compact Floribunda type Crested hybrid that
has excellent repeat bloom and heavily crested sepals. The bloom form
and color is unremarkable, but this hybrid has been used only as a breeding
plant and is not going to be available on the market. This shrub remains
under 2.5 feet tall, and has excellent repeat bloom and attractive,
disease resistant foliage. As you can see, the sepals are spectacularly
crested, a trait inherited from R.
centifolia cristata.
Unfortunately,
seeds from this rose germinate very poorly, and there have been no noteworthy
offspring produced from it yet. As in any difficult like of breeding,
this may be a "dead end" in this particular line of pursuit.
It is noteworthy as an individual of distinct character in the noble
pursuit of repeat blooming Crested Roses.
