Lady Angela, bred by Joan Monteith, introduced 2004.
The plant itself is an upright grower and forms a 5 to 6 foot bush in my garden. Its disease resistance is superior to most of the other English-style roses I grow, and is certainly superior to 'Heritage'. I think this is a lovely rose that offers an improvement on the Austin roses as far as disease and reliablility of repeat is concerned. I received this rose from Joan in a cutting exchange several years ago, when it wasa still an un-named seedling. It has been an excellent shrub in my garden. Introduced in 2004 by The Uncommon Rose. This
rose is a new English style hybrid from Joan Monteith of Washington.
Bred from 'Heritage' and 'Westerland',
it appears to have inherited the best of both: freedom of bloom and
a nice fragrance from 'Heritage' and the Sturdiness,
vigor and hardiness from 'Westerland'. As you can see
here, the bloom form is very much like the English rose style of flower,
with shallow cups of 40-plus petals. The color varies from peachy-coral
to a coral-pink, depending on the season.
