Lyda Rose, bred by Kleine Lettunich, California 1994.
It is a somewhat fountain-shaped shrub of about 5 feet tall, and somewhat wider at maturity. It is a seedling from the rambler, 'Francis E. Lester', which produces very similar blooms, but on a big climber. Kleine introduced this rose in 1994, and named it after her daughter. Kleine has introduced on other rose named 'Matteo's Silk Butterflies' which is a seedling from 'Mutabilis'. 'Lyda Rose' is disease free, and quite hardy. It is also reputed to be a good bloomer is shady locations. Make this rose a part of your garden and you won't be disappointed! 'Lyda Rose' is available from The Uncommon Rose ARS merit

'Lyda
Rose' is a very beautiful new addition to the modern roses
class. It is a remarkably simple, sublime rose which flowers profusely
with apple blossom-like blooms. Unfortunately there is almost no fragrance,
but the effect of the shrub is outstanding, and more than makes up for
the lack of scent.
