'Rainforest', bred by Ralph Moore, California, introduced 2004.
This is one of Ralph Moore's 2004 Floribunda introductions. Both parents of this rose are Miniatures; one orange and one deep red and mossed. It is surprising to see a Floribunda style rose come out of such an unlikely pairing, and even more surprising when you realize that 'Rainforest' ages to pale green! The fully matured blooms become a soft green not unlike the Miniature 'Green Ice'. At the half open stage, as you see here, this is a beautiful rose, with an unusual heavy cream base color and those raspberry tinted tips. It appears that this rose is completely mildew proof, and the sheer volume of bloom it produces is truly amazing. At times it can be hard to see the foliage for all the flowers. I have grown this rose as a test variety for several years prior to its release and find it to be a reliable, well-behaved and beautiful shrub. It is compact and would make a good bush for the front of a border or a specimen for a large pot or tub. 'Rainforest' is now available from both The Uncommon Rose and Sequoia Nursery. ARS
