Goldmoss, bred by Ralph Moore, Visalia California, 1972.

'Goldmoss'Goldmoss is a breakthrough in shrub Mosses, with its Floribunda habit and clear yellow coloring. Breeding: 'Rumba' X (seedling X "Orange Moss")

In the search for Miniature Moss hybrids, Mr. Ralph Moore of California has created some wondeful full-sized Moss Shrubs along the way. In some ways 'Goldmoss' is like a larger version of 'Lemon Delight', his very popular yellow Mini Moss. 'Goldmoss' will form a compact, twiggy shrub of about 3 feet in height and the same in width, with 3" medium yellow blooms which fade slowly to pale yellow. There is a moderate fragrance that is very sweet, and reminiscent of some other flower to me. The buds are quite mossy, as you can see if you look closely at the base of the bloom pictured here. Disease resistance seems to be better than average. This rose blooms in cycles, with pauses between flushes.

If you are interested in reading the history of the Moss hybrids created by Mr. Moore, read The Breeding And Developement of Modern Moss Roses.
