Fuzzy Wuzzy Red, bred by Ralph Moore, California 2004. Breeding: 'Scarlet Moss' X self. I first had the opportunity to observe this fascinating Miniature Moss rose in 2001, when Ralph Moore showed it to me as an un-named seedling. There were two siblings seedlings being considered and this was chosen as the superior one. (They were both very similar, but this one had superior disease resistance, so I have been told) 'Fuzzy Wuzzy Red' is a seedling of 'Scarlet Moss', and is similar in many ways, but with larger, slightly more double blooms on a much more compact plant. This new Mini Moss will rarely exceed 14 inches in height, whereas its parent tends to get much larger than that. As always, the mossy buds are strongly scented of balsam when touched, and the open bloom has some scent as well. This is the first new Mini Moss from Ralph Moore in several years, and I think it has been well worth the wait. Introduced in 2004 by both Sequoia Nursery and The Uncommon Rose ARS
