Darlow's Enigma, Breeder unknown. (a chance discovery), 1993.

Darlow's Enigma is one of those found roses that has become a household word among Rose growers, seemingly overnight! It has everything: vigor, constant bloom, sweet fragrance, disease resistance and winter hardiness. It is also quite tolerant of a shady location, although it performs best when it gets at least a few hours of sunlight. This is an excellent choice for a barrier rose also, as it has some pretty sharp thorns. One of the very few truly exceptional climbing roses.

ARS merit rating: N/A
Personal merit rating: 9.0
Hardiness: Likely USDA zones 5 to 10, possibly zone 4 in a protected location.
Shrub size: 10 to 15 feet tall.
Fragrance: 4.0, very strong sweet fragrance!
