Smoky,
bred by Combe, France 1968.
A
strange rose, to be sure. The color is a blend of deep red with hints
of cinnamon, overlaid with an odd greyish purple cast. The photo barely
illustrates its magical hues. A strong, upright grower in typical Hybrid
Tea style and generous with bloom. I suppose it was a rose before its
time because it seems that it has only now found a true home in the
hearts of rose collectors.
This
is an equally good grower on its own roots or budded.
