Gruss an Teplitz, introduced by Geschwind, Hungary, 1897
I have found so far that like others of the Bourbon group, this variety is too much inclined to either mildew or Blackspot. I will give it a couple more seasons before I decide what I think of it though. The brilliant red semi double blooms open fully to display the stamens at ethe center, and there is a moderate sweet fragrance. Blooms are usually produced in large clusters that open sequentially over a period of time, and it reblooms very well all season. As I say, its only real fault is a tendancy to blackspot too easily.
