Variegata
di Bologna,
introduced
by Bonfiglioli, Italy, 1909
'Variegata
di Bologna' is one of the few striped roses I like. It also happens
to be one of the few repeat blooming Bourbon roses. Blossoms are fully
double, large and cupped in form, with dark currant purple srtiping
on a cream colored background. The shrub itself is somewhat open, with
lax, arching form and less that dense foliage. It will also require
spraying in some gardens to keep foliar diseases away. It is one of
the "collectors item" roses which are satisfactory when given
good care, and will reward you with some very fine blooms.....just don't
expect this to be a showpiece in the garden.
