This rose is considered to be the finest of Bennett's creations. It was certainly regarded as such when it was introduced into commerce in the USA in the late 1800's......apparently Bennett received $45,000 for royaties from it!

'Mrs. John Laing' is an excellent member of the Hybrid Perpetuals, and one of the best performers overall. Mine has rarely been without bloom all season long, and it is often still blooming close to Christmas. As a garden shrub, this is a great plant. At about 4 feet tall, it is more compact than many others, and its foliage is full, healthy and fills out the shrub nicely. 'Mrs. John Laing' is very quick to repeat, and the silvery-pink blooms are well scented with a mix of rose and Tea scent. This was a fine rose when it was introduced, and is still a beautiful, garden-worthy shrub..
